Aegis operates eleven Low Care Lodge facilities in the Perth region, all offering a familiar home like environment, premium standard accommodation and full care support:
Hotel
style single suite accommodation is provided, including ensuite
bathrooms and either access to or an outlook to landscaped gardens.
All meals are prepared by chefs in on-site kitchens. Cleaning,
laundry, hairdressing and other health services are also provided.
While residents are encouraged to take full advantage of the wide
range of therapies, activities and outings that are on offer, ultimately
the choice of lifestyle is left to the individual.
All Aegis lodges carry the Commonwealth Government’s highest
level of accreditation in recognition of the premium quality care
and accommodation provided. They also employ an ‘ageing-in-place’
policy. This policy reduces the likelihood of residents having to
change their accommodation should their health status decline. However,
where special nursing support or a more secure environment is needed
consideration for movement will only be measured after extensive
consultation with the resident, their family and medical guidance
has taken place.

The independent Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT) is responsible for
determining eligibility for entry into Low Care accommodation. The
level of Government subsidy is then ascertained according to the care
needs of the resident.
The fees and charges that a resident in Low Care pays are based on
a standard daily fee, the resident’s income and asset position
as determined by Centrelink, and the level of other services chosen.

Aegis provides comprehensive High Care accommodation and services
at fourteen premium quality residences:
Each residence is staffed by dedicated and highly trained nursing
care personnel and employs the most advanced technology and equipment
for residents’ comfort and safety, and for maintaining their
independence.
Additional support services are provided by physiotherapists, occupational
therapists, podiatrists and, where appropriate, palliative care.
Care Plans are created to meet resident’s individual needs,
including those with dementia and related symptoms. Places are also
available for respite care where a need for short term support exists.
All Aegis High Care residences have been awarded the full three
year Commonwealth Accreditation in recognition of their very high
standards.

Entry to High Care facilities is determined on the assessment of the
independent Aged Care Assessment Team (ACAT).
In accordance with the provisions of the Aged Care Act 1997, all additional
fees and charges are determined by a resident’s income and assets.

The Aegis Group is making a significant contribution to the development
of practices for early detection and management of the many forms
of dementia, including diseases such as Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s
and Huntington’s. Dementia specific accommodation is available
at the following thirteen Aegis locations:
Staff at all Aegis residences are trained in
early recognition of dementia and in the development of care plans
for minimising symptoms and managing ongoing impacts. Specialist
teams of care staff operate at many of our facilities and involve
residents’ families and friends in the caring process as much
as possible.
Our aim is to ensure an optimal quality of life in a friendly,
secure and comfortable environment.

Nine High Care residences operated by Aegis have been granted special
approvals by the Commonwealth Government to provide Extra Services
status accommodation:
Extra Services status means a significantly higher standard of accommodation,
food and more service than normal. Higher resident fees are paid in
return for the services provided.
The Aegis Extra Services
program offers residents more than 20 ‘extras’, ranging
from premium quality décor and furnishings to a la carte
dining including wine served with dinner, valet laundry and dry
cleaning services.

The Transitional Care Service (TCS) is a unique and innovative pilot
program, jointly funded by the State and Commonwealth Governments.
It provides short term rehabilitative care for post hospital frail
aged or those in the community requiring assistance to maintain
independence in either their own home or in a comfortable home like
environment.
Aegis was selected to provide both the residential and community care elements of the Transitional Care Service
which is based at our Stirling Aged Care Facility.
